Secret Tiled Staircase In San Francisco, California

This tiled staircase is placed on 16th avenue in San Francisco and makes a total of 163 steps. The site is an important waypoint on San Francisco’s famous butterfly-bolstering Green Hairstreak Corridor. The project began in 2003 and was completed in 2005, with the help of artists and many neighborhood volunteers, and was inspired by the Selarón staircase in Rio de Janeiro. All the mosaics used in this project were donated by the community.
