9 Herbs That Can Grow Well in The Heat

Most of you will think that hot weather is not a good condition for the growth of plants! However, there are a lot of species that still grow well at high temperatures, even they have to get enough full of the sun so that thriving. So, when summer comes, you don’t have to worry about your plants if you grow plants below. Here are 9 herbs that can grow well in the heat that we want to share today. Check them out!

These herbs are easy to grow. In addition to growing well in dry and hot weather, they also don’t need to require a lot of effort from gardeners such as water, and fertilize, repel pests. If you are a beginner in gardening, you should grow them. The simple reason, you will easily have herb for each meal, but also can gain experience in planting and care from easy to difficult when starting.

#1 Thyme, Thymus Vulgaris

To gro well, the Thyme, Thymus Vulgaris need enough in full sun with good drainage.

#2 Chilli, Capsicum Annuum

Chillies like to grow in a hot, sunny location in the garden and can easily be grown in pots, too, for those who have limited space or live in an apartment with a sunny verandah.

#3 Greek and perennial basil, Ocimum SP.

All basils love the warmer months but Greek and perennial basil are tougher and longer-lived than most of the other popular varieties. Grow your basil in a full-sun location with good drainage.

#4 Curry leaf tree, BERGERA KOENIGII (Syn. Murraya Koenigii)

During the cooler months, it’s quite common for the curry leaf tree to turn yellow and even defoliate a bit, depending on temperature. Protect from frost and grow in full sun. More on this plant in our last issue.

#5 Lemongrass, West Indian lemongrass, Cymbopogon Citratus

Lemongrass is a large clumping grass plant that has a beautiful lemon scent. It’s a cold-sensitive plant, though. So, if you want to grow them, you should place where has full of sun.

#6 Perennial Coriander, Eryngium Foetium

Perennial Coriander, Eryngium Foetium just bolts to flower once the weather heats up. Sawtooth coriander will die down in winter, which is fine because that’s when the common coriander is hitting its straps, lapping up the cooler weather. Once the temperature starts to rise again it will reshoot.

#7 Sage, Salvia Officialis

Sage is a fantastic perennial shrubby herb with soft grey foliage. In subtropical and tropical regions many treat common sage, Salvia officinalis, as an annual. It grows well in the sun.

#8 Oregano Za’atar, Origanum Syriaca

The flowers are white and appear in summer. Common oregano, Greek oregano, golden oregano, and close relative sweet marjoram also flourish when the summer temperatures soar.

#9 Rosemary, Rosmarinus Officinalis

Rosemary likes a hot, sunny spot in the garden with good drainage.
